IMSLE Associate MSL Training Course
This dynamic training brings together the Science of Reading and Spelling equipping professionals with the knowledge and skills to take scientific research to educational practice. The 12 months course includes a guided practicum.
Entry: Bachelor Degree or Equivalent. Teachers in schools, educators, speech therapists. Teacher Aides and motivated parents may apply.
The Associate MSL course is designed for busy suitable professionals who require upskilling and specialisation in the MSL approach.
The Associate course provides instruction based on a morpho-phonemic, linguistics based, structured and multisensory approach for teaching reading and all components of the "Big 6".
MSL is a structured, systematic and cumulative approach involving intensive reinforcement. IMSLE diagnostic tests and data collection is included to assist educators plan and monitor student progress. The Associate course also includes relevant required readings to ensure that trainees are well informed in the areas of literacy, language, dyslexia. The readings are research based and are being updated for 2024 training.
Suitable for all learners: RTI (Tiers 1, 2, 3) and MTSS Models.
Suitable for all settings: Prevention, Intervention and Remediation- through to teens and adults.
The IMSLE MSL course is embedded in SoR theory and provides a clear translation to MSL educational practice (what, how, for whom and when). MSL is supported by a team of muti-disciplinary researchers from the fields of neuro and cognitive sciences, linguistics, psychology, speech and education.

Course Structuring:
The course is made up of 3 components. The 3 components are based on international standards of accredited training. Upon successful completion of all components individuals can apply for recognition and become accreditated via the Australian Dyslexia Association's accreditation (AMADA) program: ADA recognition
5 day intensive training-Mode face to face or zoom : A valuable 5 days of bridging research to educational practice whilst networking with other passionate attendees.
IMSLE Practicum: IMSLE Guided lesson plans to ensure that you are supported on the 'what to teach' and 'how to teach it". This component also includes student MSL diagnostics to help you plan for instruction, monitor and document student progress. Professional attendess will choose a suitable focus student as a case study to be approved as their practicum student. MSL assists all children who are struggling with apspects of literacy. A formal diagnosis of dyslexia to not required to start implementing MSL. If an approved parent is continuing on, they may nominate their own child for their practicum component.
Required readings (reviewed for 2024): Selected relevant readings in the field will be sent after the 5 day intensive training. These include national and international reports/inquiries, articles and fact sheets on various topics of interest and relevancy. Summaries and personal response reflections are required. No essays or assignments are required.
Expected Associate IMSLE course completion: Minimum 12 months from last day of the 5 day intensive. Extensions may be granted beyond the 12 months, so long as communication with IMSLE has been frequent. It is expected that lessons are spread out over the 12 months period, covering a number of IMSLE Teaching models and skills.
Upon Completion of all course components: All work is marked by IMSLE and a transcript of results and a IMSLE certificate is issued for the 5 day intensive component. Successful candidates who have evidenced successfully completion of the IMSLE Associate course can apply to the ADA for individual accreditation by submitting the AMADA application forms.
The Associate IMSLE course is designed so educators can immediatley start to reach and teach students: The Associate MSL course is designed to for busy individuals, there is flexibility to complete the practicum and readings. There are no written essays or lengthy assignments. Trainees will be provided with a Step by Step plan upon completion of the 5 day intensive component along with access to a wide range of coursework documents. IMSLE offers on-going support and guidance via allocated experienced IMSLE Advisors. IMSLE also provides an exclusive support FB group for group support and networking for traineed and AMADA's only.
ONE Fee: The 12 months Associate MSL course fee is $2,500.00 AUS. The fee OFFERS suitable applicants all 3 components, there are no separate or ongoing fees. This course meets the ADA's guidelines for Australian Dyslexia Association (ADA) MSL Recognition (AMADA).
Inclusions: MSL 5 day course materials, an extensive dropbox for MSL practicum guidelines including all IMSLE diagnostic tools and required readings in the field. There is also an option to join the exclusive private IMSLE FB group for further support, research and related resources (files section).
Qualification: Individual accreditation via the Associate Membership into the Australian Dyslexia Association (ADA) MSL Recognition (AMADA)
